Winding Path

What is it ‘bout the winding path so soothes the burdened soul?
When twists and turns ‘round every bend are fine not to control

Sweet solitude, a gentle wind, speak stories not yet told,
Of life and death, of plants and beasts; all worlds yet to unfold

No need for all our absolutes, what is, is what will be,
Just trees, earth, water, sky, laid bare for us to see

What loss of care, what switch turned down, relinquishing this need,
For questions, answers, absolutes?  All fade now, then recede

As if surrounded by this peace, those mantras have no place,
Just holding time for light sublime; that matters in this space

Casting cares to warm chinooks, swept up with cosmos speed,
Journeys taken, souls reclaimed –down winding paths indeed
