Mo’s Prose – Day 357 / Red Brick Road

Day 357 – Thursday, May 4, 2017

Red Brick Road

I live here.
Past this street and over the bridge;
Beyond this red brick road.
And I love it

My teeth shake a little,
Taking bumpy “back roads”
But that just makes me smile

Because I know,
These buildings have been here
Long before I was.
And we are still small enough,
To want to keep a bumpy path

Unless there is a
Damn good reason,
I will always take the back roads.

I watch the planted fields grow,
Harvested of yummy things,
Left to rest,
and grow again
–I love that too

I wander.
I like to wander.
Drive the Old Pioneer Highway,
Just to drive down,
The Old Pioneer Highway

And I watch,
Absorbing life and lives around me
Barn fallen down,
(I want that wood)
Nested bald eagles,
Babies protected in huge nests,
(Damn! you are majestic)
Properties for sale,
Way too close to stinky cattle farms
–But I still want them in my fantasies

I won’t say it’s not crazy,
But it still amazes me;
Every day
