Mo’s Prose – Day 362 / Silken Moon

Day 362 – Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Silken Moon

She walked for her night’s farewell,
Pets close by her side
But still they stood,
Still as the world around them

First windless eve in days,
Nothing causing shivers
That had become the new normal

Silence held her,
Like a mother caressing the face
Of her precious child
Raising her chin, turning her head,
Listening closer still

Voices echoing across the sea
Clear, ringing –perfect,
Nothing to sweep them to the waves
And to this, she closed her eyes
Enchanted by the change

Listening, listening, listening,
Until she could see everything in her mind’s eye
Gentle lapping of waves on shore,
Birds begrudging positions
Settling in for the night

She felt the moon,
Rising behind trees
Bright, beaming,
Lighting up sky, clouds, trees, water,
–Anything brave enough to cross his path

Again, she closed her eyes
Mesmerized, basking in the glow,
And silence,
And peace,
Of the silken moon
